The Overhang House designed by Dada & Partners in New Delhi, India, is an ultra contemporary, sleek, and thermally efficient home. The Overhang House, so called because of the 200 square foot master bathroom that cantilevers over the entrance without structural support, takes up a bare 350 square foot space, but houses a family.

The interior and exterior of the house blend seamlessly into each other with the floor to ceiling glass and the wood and concrete that continues from inside the home to the outside.

Designed and built to be contemporary, the Overhang House keeps its Indian roots with the courtyards and open design between the indoor and outdoor living spaces.

The Overhang House is not only beautiful and functional, but it is also sustainably “green”. It is built to take full benefit of the southern sun in the winter while the overhangs help reduce the inside temperature naturally. Full glass panel doors open to the courtyard to assist in ventilation. Rooftop solar panel collectors are used for all the hot water heating and rainwater is collected into a harvesting pit.

Known as the W House, designed by IDIN Architects, this contemporary sleek design is situated in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. A perfect blend of pure aesthetics and master manipulation. Where futuristic and elegance certainly bows to ‘form follows function’.

Floating concrete staircases flow easily around tactile chrome and warm natural woods. There is nothing subdued about this house. Yet it stands in striking modern grandeur. Blending in perfectly with the almost stark yet beautiful surroundings. Massive windows cajole light into every room, with shadows creating interesting negative spaces. True art and simplicity in a complex mix of imagination and temperance.

The stone wall surrounding this luscious property is accented by a door within the same sharp style as the home itself. A clever mix of outdoor generosity and indoor in-genius. Design, flair and style show case not only a beautiful home, but a livable space with heart.

What appears to be almost cubist at first flows gently from room to room. This home could carry out multiple functions. A business space too. As space is one of the many delightful things this modern day castle has.

In some previews articles I’ve written about the importance of details and how we can optimize small spaces. Small living rooms like any other rooms can be easily decorated with some smart ideas in such way so that everything looks clean and organized.

Consider that the living room is your place of relaxation, meetings with friends and long gossips so avoid to place more than is necessary. A comfy and vibrantly colored sofa, a living room table and perhaps a bookshelf and other furniture elements that are absolutely necessary.

I don’t know how you imagine the design of a living room but considering it is a place of recreation, decorate it with objects you like but don’t suffocate the entire room.
