It’s a gorgeous property in a magnificent setting; you imagine your guests arriving, ready to settle down with a drink after a long journey.

More and more people are choosing to get their extended families together to stay in a stunning vacation country house, whether it’s for a special event such as a birthday or anniversary, or just an opportunity for everybody to spend some quality time together.

And with our increasingly busy lives often leaving us with less time than we’d like to spend with grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and parents, investing in a vacation country house is a great idea. Here are some of the main things that will impress your guests and keep them coming back for more.

#1. Home-From-Home Experience:

One of the main things that guests are looking for when they bring their whole family together for a vacation is a home-from-home. Most large country houses to rent, such as these at Big House Experience, offer a wide range of home comforts to their guests. Guests want enough space to accommodate everybody without feeling confined like they would in a hotel room, and plenty of space to chill out, relax together and catch up with each other. Everything that we take for granted at home will be appreciated by your guests, so go the extra mile – providing hair dryers, mirrors, coat hangers, hooks on the doors, coffee and tea ready to make, cutlery, tea towels and kitchen paper, toilet paper, shower gels and shampoos are just some ideas. If your guests forget something, you want them to be happy that you have it ready for them anyway – you get the idea.

#2. A Comfortable Setting:

Make your vacation home as comfortable as possible, so that guests won’t ever want to leave. Luxurious throws on the couches, plenty of plush cushions, and fresh bedding will go a long way. When it comes to sleeping arrangements, try to give your guests as many options as possible – a selection of different pillows, so that those who prefer softer ones or firmer ones can be as comfortable as possible, is a great idea. A good night’s sleep for everybody will go a long way when it comes to getting your vacation stay wonderful reviews and keeping your guests coming back again and again. Make sure that the mattresses are comfortable and good quality, without any lumps and bumps, squeaks or stains.

#3. Child-Friendly:

Most of the time, people who travel as an extended family are going to have little ones in tow. And the more child-friendly your vacation stay is, the better. Toys and games ready for kids to enjoy are certainly going to impress any moms and dads in the group – happy kids mean happy parents. If there’s a large garden at the property, a children’s play area will be a huge hit. Make sure that children have a safe and comfortable place to sleep, too. Toddler beds, bed guards, and cots should always be available to guests when they need it. Provide stair gates and safety cords on blinds to keep little ones safe. And spare a thought for nursing moms, too – a rocking chair, comfortable blankets, and baby bottle sterilizing and warming facilities will always be appreciated.

#4. Provide Entertainment:

Although your guests may spend their days exploring the area and getting out together as a family, in the evenings they might want to spend some time inside, so entertainment is a must. Prepare a selection of choices for them – board games are always a great idea, and have a range of DVDs that they can enjoy watching together as a family, too. Don’t forget to include some children’s DVDs too as if your guests are traveling with little ones, they will be really grateful for Disney movies and fun kids’ movies that will keep their children entertained. Maybe even add a games console and some multi-player games, too – these are always a hit with large family get-togethers.

#5. Be Pet-Friendly:

A family is getting together, so the last thing that they want to do is have to leave their four-legged family members behind. Being pet-friendly does bring with it some risks, but it’s certainly worth it for the increased bookings and positive reviews that you’ll get. Make sure that the property is pet-proof; don’t forget that there’s nothing wrong with having some rules for staying with pets. For example, don’t let dogs into the bedrooms upstairs or of course, ensure that dogs are cleaned up after in the garden. Your guests will love it if you offer some facilities for bringing their dogs along, such as providing food and water bowls, dog blankets, beds, treats and poop bags.

Decorating and furnishing your vacation home is the easy part. When it comes to making it a comfortable and unforgettable stay for your guests, it’s often the little things that really matter.
