Dubai’s buildings may compete with Hong Kong and Tokyo when it comes to the numbers reaching 150m, but it has the highest number of buildings reaching over 300m in the world.  At the moment, 18 Dubai buildings reach over 300m tall, with 10 under construction.  No city in the world can compare.

Emirates Towers

Putting these two Dubai buildings into the top spot may appear controversial but both buildings are sensational in design.  309m tall, they were built with the Burj Al Arab, which opened four months earlier.  The towers were opened on 15 April 2000.  They represented a long period of growth and construction.

Emirates Towers is made up of an office tower and a hotel.  These Dubai buildings are located next to the World Trade Centre.  The towers are linked together by a double level shopping mall.

The towers were designed by Hazel Wong, who wanted to create architecture which was impressive enough to stand the test of time.  She certainly achieved her goal.

The Burj Khalifa

How tall is the Bird Khalifa?  This skyscraper in Dubai reaches 2,722 feet.  Completed in 2010, this Dubai skyscraper has been the epitome of grandeur.  The building is home to the Armani Hotel, offers restaurants and bars as well as residential units.

At the top of the building, you can access the SKY experience.  Visitors are invited to the 148th floor and given awesome views of Dubai.

This beautiful Dubai building was designed by  Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, from Chicago.  The firm won a design competition which granted them the opportunity to design this astonishing Dubai skyscraper.  Have a look for the triple layered footprint.  This footprint is inspired by the spider lily.

Cayan tower

Certainly one of the most striking Dubai towers, the Cayan Tower appears at first glance to resemble a fantasy beanstalk.  This is because each floor has been rotated very slightly (1,2 degrees) so that the final result is a 90 degree turn over 75 floors.

The tower was completed in 2013, and at that time it was the world’s tallest residential tower.  It has since been out built, but the striking architecture makes it one of the most attractive Dubai skyscrapers.  Each of its 495 apartments offers magnificent views over the beach and glimpses of super yachts docked on the shore.

Al Yakoub tower

This Dubai skyscraper stands 328 m tall.  Placed near the financial center, this building as inspired by the Elizabeth Tower ( more commonly known as Big Ben) in London.  However, there is no clock face present on this tower.  The building was completed in 2013 and was designed  by architect: Eng. Adnan Saffarini.  The Arabian Construction Company developed this beautiful Dubai building.

Dusit Thani

At only 501 feet tall, this is not as tall as the true Dubai towers.  However, the building evokes the image of hands held in prayer, a Thai greeting.  It is one of the first hotels in the Gulf to be awarded the EarthCheck Gold Certification for sustainability.

Burj Al Arab

Did you know there was a skyscraper in Dubai shaped like a ship’s sail?  Or that it houses a hotel with a 7-star rating?  That’s right, and this High-rise hotel in Dubai has its own island too.

This beautiful Dubai building was designed by Tom Wright in 1999.  It’s accessible through helipad and private bridge.  As one of the buildings designed during Dubai’s building craze, it has become a symbol of the city.  It’s over the top and very luxurious interior boasts a multistory fish tank as well as lots of gold and red.

Princess tower

At 414m high, the Princess Tower is one of the most majestic Dubai skyscrapers.  It became one of the world’s tallest residential buildings in 2012  and still holds this impressive record.

Constructed in the Marina district, this Dubai building has 700 luxurious apartments and 975 parking bays, placed underground, which take up six floors.  It also offers eight different retail outlets.

JW Marriott Marquis

23 Marina
